Raleigh County School Recycling Totals
2009-2010 School Year
Dear Principals, Recycling Coordinators and Green Team Members,
Enclosed please find the funds your schools have earned for the 2009-10 School Year. The breakdown is as follows:
- Aluminum Cans Recycled was 5,280# @ .45 cents per pounds = $2,376.00
- Paper/Cardboard Recycled was 330 tons @ $16.40 per ton = $5,413.50
- Corporate Green Team Money = $10,000.00
- GRAND TOTAL SCHOOLS EARNED = $17,789.50
A big congratulations to two schools for incredible recycling accomplishments; Marsh Fork and Fairdale Elementary.
Marsh Fork recycled an incredible 2,707 # of aluminum cans; they will retain the Stanley Cup of Recycling for this achievement. The value of their aluminum cans earned them $1,218.15.
The highest Corporate Green Team award of $2,000.00 goes to Fairdale Elementary for recycling the largest amount of paper/cardboard at 72,832 #; earning them an additional $597.22. Please note the CGT sponsors at the end of this letter. We are a small community with incredibly generous people. I am most grateful for their generosity.
Next year will be the tenth anniversary for the School Recycling Program. The Corporate Green Team Funds will return, however, monies will not be earned for the value of the products recycled. We intend to bring back the End of the Year Awards, which we’ve had in the past.
Please know, the Raleigh County Recycling Program is the most comprehensive initiative in the great state of West Virginia. Thank you one and all for all your hard work! Have a marvelous summer.
Best regards,
Sherrie A. Hunter, Director of Education
