SCHOOL RECYCLING ~ ALUMINUM CANS
GUIDELINE CHANGE

Friday, September 05, 2008

Due to its overwhelming success the School Recycling Program is implementing a change in the collection of aluminum cans. We want to ensure schools’ are given credit for every aluminum can which is recycled.

Instead of placing aluminum cans in the white recycling bin, we are asking schools to sign up to use a can trailer which will store ONLY aluminum cans. Now your school has the opportunity to earn unlimited funds by using this method of collection. The can trailer will remain at the school for at least a two week period of time. There are four can trailers which will be rotated around the schools.

***FYI, there are 600 pounds of aluminum cans in the picuture(to the left) x .50 cents per pound = $300.00

The recycling staff will continue to remove as many bags of aluminum cans which are placed in the white bin; however, it has become labor intensive to collect these bags when they are surrounded by thousands of pounds of paper and cardboard.

If you have any questions about school recycling, please do not hesitate to contact me for clarification.
Thank you,
